Jacqueline Kiyomi Ota, 83, a retired elementary school principal, passed away in Santa Monica of cardiac arrest and complications from Alzheimer’s on March 18.
She is predeceased by her parents, Jack Kiyoshi Ota and Michiko Ota, and survived by her loving partner, Larry Dean; brother, Alan Ota; sister-in-law, Catherine Phillips; aunt, Sumi Iris Suda; and many cousins and friends.
Jackie, born in Los Angeles on June 23, 1941, graduated from Northwestern in 1962. She then began a 37-year-long career with the Los Angeles Unified School District, starting as a kindergarten teacher at the Elizabeth Street School in Cudahy and ending in retirement after serving as the principal of the Marquez Charter School in Pacific Palisades for 14 years. A private family service was held.
