A private funeral service for Kiyoshi Takeda, Wakayama, 93 year-old Japan born Issei who passed away on March 10, 2020 was held at the Memorial Chapel at Kubota Mortuary with Rev. Gregory Gibbs of Pasadena Buddhist Temple officiating.
Kiyoshi Takeda served the community for over a half century. He served over 30 years as President of the Pasadena Nikkei Seniors and served many years in leadership positions with the Pasadena Kendo Dojo, the Pasadena Japanese Cultural Institute, the Crown City Gardeners Association, the Japanese Pioneer Center and Pasadena Nihongo Gakuen. He received numerous awards and honors for his dedicated volunteer service to the community.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Miyuki Takeda; children, Bryan (Jerilynn) Takeda and Janice Takeda; grandchildren, Lauren (Kevin) Jacinto of Falls Church, VA, Courtney Takeda, Richard and Akemi Neufeld; sister, Suzuko Oura of Wakayama Japan; and by many other relatives.
