Beloved parents, Joyce Yuriko and Yasuji Yasuhara Aochi passed away after 74½ years of marriage in Los Angeles. Joyce, 95, passed away on December 31, 2024 and Yasuji, 98, followed Joyce in death only a few weeks later on January 13, 2025. They lived completely full and happy lives together.
Joyce and Yasuji were born in Los Angeles, and both enjoyed playing golf. Yasuji was the owner and operator of Mikawaya in Denver, Colorado. He was also a partner of Tom’s Wholesale Flower Company with his brother Tom. Yasuji was also on the Santa Anita Softball Championship Team-Hollywood Huskies, which he was always proud of. While Joyce enjoyed cooking, the two enjoyed having friends and family over to their home. As a couple, Yasuji and Joyce were constantly together and were inseparable.
They are survived by their children, Jani (Grant) Hagiya, Robbie (Elyse) and Stevie (Deanne) Aochi; grandchildren, Lexie (Ryan) Murakami, Jamie and Trent (Marianne) Hagiya, Brent (Mae), Haley, Lucas and Alex Aochi, Cami (Andrew) Frenz; great-grandchildren, Sage and Teagan Murakami, Clark and Willa Hagiya, Theo and Lucy Aochi; Yasuji’s sister, June Aochi (Marty) Berk; also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A private family burial service was held.
