(84) passed away on June 1, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Mitsie Yanari; daughter, Jerilynn (Bryan) Takeda and Deena (Robert) Ota; grandchildren, Lauren and Courtney Takeda; sister, Yeiko Pat (Kenneth) Miwa; sister-in-law, Miyeko Toshima; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A private sea scatter and memorial service was held on Saturday, June 20, 2009 with Rev. Mark Nakagawa of Centenary United Methodist Church officiating.
