Ruby Hiroko Okamoto, 93-year-old Sacramento, CA born Nisei and longtime
resident of Venice/Playa Del Rey, passed away on December 5, 2020 in
Los Angeles. Funeral services will be held at a later date with Rev. Kory

Ruby was raised in Los Angeles and Hiroshima, and loved Southern
California. She is survived by her son, Quinn Okamoto; brother Kay
(Soddie) Okamoto of Carlsbad; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives
here and in Japan. She was interested in politics and was active in many

in Los Angeles in 1960, when John F. Kennedy was nominated. She was
able to shake hands with Kennedy and Eleanor Roosevelt and remembered
being inspired by their speeches.
