(69), passed away on June 20, 2011 in Los Angeles. He is survived by his wife, Yoshiko Obinata; children, Dr. Christopher (Dr. Tissa Hata) Uchiyama of San Diego, CA and Betty (Philip) Teramoto; grandchildren, Darren, Erin Teramoto and Lauren, Brian Uchiyama; siblings, Takashi (Keiko) Uchiyama, Taeko (Toshiro) Kaneko, Tsuneko (Toshio) Osaki and Machiko Morita; all of brothers-in-law and sister-in-law in Japan; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives in U.S. and Japan.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 28, 2011 at the Memorial Chapel of Kubota Nikkei Mortuary with Rev. Mario Kawakami from Seicho-No-Ie officiating.
