A funeral service for Kaoru Sugawara, 78-year-old, Iwate, Japan-born Issei who passed away on February 14, 2026 in Los Angeles, will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Kubota Mortuary, 911 Venice Blvd., Los Angeles, with Rev. Mayuki Nagamine from Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple officiating.

He is survived by his daughters, Shiori Tina (Hung Ho) and Shino Ellen (Amri Christianto) Sugawara; grandsons, Aaron Tomoki, Shaun Takeshi, Austin Taiki Ho, Matthew Jun, Jordan Akira Christianto; brothers, Hideo and Kenji Sugawara; also survived by many nieces and relatives in Japan.
