A private funeral service for Kiyoshi Shimabukuro, 85 year-old, Honolulu, HI born Nisei, Veteran of Korean War, who passed away on July 22, 2013 in Monterey Park, was held on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Los Angeles Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.

He is survived by his children, Lori (Tom) Hikida, Linda (Bill) Tan, and Dean (Stacy) Shimabukuro; grandchildren, Madeline, Miranda, Trevor and Riley Shimabukuro; brother, Joe (Patsy) Shimabukuro; also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives in the US and Japan.
